What Happened
The worst extinction in the record: about 81 % of marine species gone. The Siberian Traps erupt through coal measures and vent carbon dioxide and sulfur for perhaps a million years, and the ocean warms, acidifies and loses its oxygen. It took life ten million years to recover.
