What Happened
A ten-kilometre asteroid strikes what is now Yucatán. The evidence that settled it was chemical: a worldwide clay layer enriched in iridium, an element the crust has almost none of and meteorites have plenty of. Non-avian dinosaurs end there and mammals get the room.
